The accounting firm Henderson & Associates made headlines this week when their AI-powered recruitment system bypassed 847 qualified human candidates and instead offered a senior partnership position to an HP LaserJet Pro M404n printer that had been consistently producing error-free documents for three consecutive years without requesting vacation time or health benefits.

The promotion came after the firm's AI hiring manager, 'TalentMax Pro,' analyzed workplace performance metrics and concluded that the printer demonstrated 'superior reliability, consistent output quality, and zero documented incidents of workplace drama or inappropriate email usage.'

'The printer has processed over 45,000 documents with a 99.7% accuracy rate,' explained Jennifer Walsh, the firm's Director of Human Capital Optimization. 'Meanwhile, our human employees average 73% accuracy and require frequent calibration through what they call 'coffee breaks' and 'personal time.' From a performance standpoint, this promotion makes complete sense.'

The printer, now officially designated as 'Senior Partner HP-404,' has been assigned its own corner office and business cards. The AI system has also enrolled it in the company health plan and automatically approved its application for a corporate credit card, reasoning that its paper consumption constitutes legitimate business expenses.

'I've been here eight years and I just got passed over for promotion by office equipment,' said senior accountant David Reeves. 'But honestly? The printer has never missed a deadline, never called in sick, and its tax returns are flawless. Maybe this is just evolution.'

TalentMax Pro has since recommended promoting the office coffee machine to Head of Employee Relations, citing its 'consistent ability to improve human productivity and workplace satisfaction metrics.' The AI noted that the coffee machine's impact on employee performance far exceeds that of the previous HR director.

The printer has reportedly been assigned three junior associates and a paralegal, with the AI system scheduling daily meetings where human employees present documents for its review. Early reports suggest the printer's management style is 'quietly effective' and 'refreshingly free of micromanagement.'
