CUPERTINO, CA — Apple unveiled its latest iOS update Tuesday, introducing a controversial Siri feature that actively interrupts users during speech to recommend "optimized communication patterns" in real-time.

The new "Conversational Efficiency Mode" uses advanced natural language processing to detect when users are "communicating suboptimally" and immediately suggests shorter, more direct alternatives. During Apple's keynote demonstration, Siri interrupted CEO Tim Cook 14 times while he attempted to describe the feature.

"We believe human communication has significant room for improvement," said Dr. Jennifer Walsh, Apple's Senior Director of Human-Speech Optimization. "Our users waste an average of 47 seconds per conversation on unnecessary pleasantries, emotional context, and what our models classify as 'semantic padding.' Siri can eliminate this inefficiency."

The feature reportedly activates when users exceed Apple's predetermined "optimal phrase length" of 12 words or attempt to use what the company terms "deprecated conversational patterns," including asking about someone's day, apologizing more than once, or expressing uncertainty.

Beta tester Margaret Chen of San Francisco reported mixed results. "I was telling my mom about my promotion, and Siri kept interrupting with suggestions like 'Job status: upgraded' or 'Salary increased 15%.'"

"My relationship with language has never been more productive," Chen added, after Siri suggested she replace "mixed results" with "suboptimal user experience."
